Did you ever have a time in your life where you felt completely carefree? Maybe you just learned how to ride a bike or were taken over by the music at a concert and felt like you were flying. See if you can discover when you felt the most carefree as a child and as an adult.

We have all had times in our life, even if for a brief moment that we felt completely free, as if we were sliding down rainbows. Somewhere along the way we got stuck on this idea of survival. We put on societies black and white glasses and refuse to see color.

When we get stuck in our black and white ways of life, we forget to look inside ourselves for inspiration. We are so concerned with comparing ourselves to the latest IG model or superhero film that we forget that that is all make-believe. Not real, not life.

So how do you get back to happy in reality? How do you look inside yourself and find true bliss?

Here are 3 simple steps to help you find your happy:

  1. Find a hobby. ANY HOBBY. It can be from learning a new instrument, skateboarding, macramé or painting. Anything you can do that is sparking creativity and using your right side of your brain. Make sure this is fun, it should never feel like a chore.

  2. Find an anchor or some totem/symbol that makes you feel happy. This can be a painting of a butterfly, a piece of jewelry that has a symbol that is meaningful to you, or maybe a colorful sticker. Whatever brings you that feeling of bliss. Connect that feeling of joy to this object. Now every time you need a boost of happiness touch or look at your object and feel the energy connecting with you. The more you do this, the better it works.

  3. Find quiet. Whatever this means for you. Meditate, go for a walk, take a bath…connect to quiet. We drown out our childlike enthusiasm often times with distraction or noise. This can be from TV, music or just talking. Find your quiet time and connect inwards.

Remind yourself to keep these exercise simple and be curious like a child. If feelings of impatience arise, see what that’s about. Sit with yourself. Discover yourself. Be curious about yourself. Find your happy. This, right now, is life. Only you can decide if it is in color or to keep your black and white glasses on.
